Special Education

I was born in Morristown, New Jersey and was the oldest of four children.  As a child, I enjoyed playing outdoors, spending time with grandparents, reading, and playing the violin.  We moved to California when I was a teenager.  I graduated from high school when I was 16 and started taking college classes across the street from my high school at Orange Coast Community College.  I went to dental assisting school for a summer before leaving for BYU.  I earned an associate degree in child development and then went on to earn a dual degree in elementary education and special education.  I met my husband during my last year at BYU.  We married and moved to Idaho where I taught for 2 years, before becoming a mother and moving to Ft. Wayne, Indiana.  In Indiana, I did substitute teaching, taught in a daycare, and tutored at a private school for high school students who had been expelled from school.  We moved back to Idaho where I spent my time raising 5 children and substitute teaching before returning to work at the Behavioral Health Center as the teacher for the adolescent patients.  I have taught Jr. High special education, 2nd grade, and elementary special education, where I have been since 1992.  My husband and I were foster parents to over 100 children. I enjoy reading, football, cooking, and spending time with my 12 grandchildren.  I love working with all the great staff and students at Ucon Elementary!
